LLOYD JOHNSON: THE MODERN OUTFITTER celebrates the career of the man behind the facade. In recognition of Lloyd
Johnson's position as one of the central figures operating at the cross-hatches of popular music and fashion design, the exhibition is
centred on his core archive of garments, textiles, artwork, personal effects and ephemera, and brings together key clothing from
customers and collectors from around the world.
THE MODERN OUTFITTER also opens the door on a pre-digital world of shopping, retailing, production and design, one where
Johnson's boutiques became total environments which also told his own story, from Modernist beginnings in the seaside town of
Hastings through hippy splendour in London and Paris in the 60s to new wave, post-punk and New Romanticism in the 70s and 80s
to LA's Tiki/lounge scene and Tokyo's leather-clad rockers of the 90s and 00s.

In Numbers: Serial Publications by Artists Since 1955

In Numbers: Serial Publications by Artists Since 1955 is a survey exhibition of the often-overlooked genre of serial publications
produced by artists around the world from 1955 to the present day. From the rise of the small press in the 1960s, followed by the
correspondence art movement, where artists exchanged art by post, to the DIY zine culture in the 1980s and early 1990s,
professional artists have always seized on the format of magazines and postcards as a site for a new kind of art production.
In Numbers is the first survey to define a neglected artform that is neither artists's book nor ephemera, but is entirely its own
unique object. The publications are by young artists operating at the peripheries of mainstream art cultures and established artists
looking for an alternative to the marketplace. The publications are artworks, often idiosyncratic and produced in collaboration,
and they do not feature news items, criticism, or reproductions of artworks.

Indigenous to offices and shared workplaces around the world, "xeroxlore" - defined as anonymously printed and
photocopied urban folklore - comes in the form or cartoons, mottoes, poems, sayings and parodic memoranda. SPACE's
library hosts a collection of such material gathered by folklorists Alan Dundes and Carl Patger between the 60s and the
late 90s alongside key texts on the phenomena. Public exhibition opening - Thursday January 19th, 6-9pm. All welcome.

Publish and Be Damned Fair

Publish and Be Damned present one of their vibrant and chaotic artists self-publishing fairs, where independent publishers
will occupy the ICA for one day only to sell and trade their wares. Participants include Published and Be Damned
members involved in architecture, music, design, literature, photography and fan culture. Publish and Be Damned is an
ongoing project focusing on artist-led and self-published magazines, journals, periodicals and other printed matter.
